Why visit Mui Ne? There are many reasons why you should consider adding Mui Ne to your Vietnam itinerary. Mui Ne is one of the most popular beach destinations in Vietnam, attracting both adventure seekers and leisure travelers. Located in the south-central coast of Vietnam, about 200 km from Ho Chi Minh City, Mui Ne offers stunning beaches, impressive sand dunes, and a variety of outdoor activities.
I have visited Mui Ne several times and I can tell you that it is a beautiful and fun place to visit. So let’s get started!
Getting to Mui Ne is easy since it has good bus and train connections. Personally, I suggest taking the train since it’s faster and Mui Ne is located about 200 km (124 miles) east of Ho Chi Minh City (Saigon), the largest city in Vietnam. There are several ways to get to Mui Ne from Ho Chi Minh City or other major cities in Vietnam or abroad.
Taking a bus is one of the most convenient and affordable ways to get to Mui Ne from Ho Chi Minh City or other cities in Vietnam. There are many bus companies that offer daily services to Mui Ne, such as Phuong Trang, Kumho, The Sinh Tourist, Hanh Cafe, and Tam Hanh. The bus ticket costs around 90,000 – 130,000 VND ($4 – $6) one way, and the journey takes about 5 hours.
The buses usually depart from the Eastern Bus Station (Bến Xe Miền Đông) or De Tham Street in District 1 of Ho Chi Minh City.
Taking a train is another option to get to Mui Ne from Ho Chi Minh City or other cities in Vietnam. However, there is no direct train to Mui Ne. You will have to take a train to Phan Thiet, the capital city of Binh Thuan province, and then take a taxi or a bus to Mui Ne. The train ticket costs around 150,000 – 200,000 VND ($7 – $9) one way, and the journey takes about 4 hours.
The trains usually depart from Saigon Railway Station (Ga Sài Gòn) in District 3 of Ho Chi Minh City. They will arrive at Phan Thiet Railway Station (Ga Phan Thiết) in the center of Phan Thiet city. From there, you can take a taxi or a bus to Mui Ne. The taxi fare is around 250,000 – 300,000 VND ($11 – $13) one way.
Mui Ne has a tropical climate with two distinct seasons: dry and rainy. The dry season lasts from November to April, while the rainy season lasts from May to October. The average temperature in Mui Ne is around 27°C (81°F), but it can vary depending on the month and the time of the day.
Based on my adventure, I would recommend visiting Mui Ne between November and February. This is when the weather is pleasant, the prices are reasonable, and the activities are diverse.
