8 Best Things To Do Ninh Binh & Travel Guide

Ninh Binh, a small city in the north of Vietnam, never fails to captivate travelers with its breathtaking landscapes and rich cultural heritage. Having visited this enchanting destination numerous times, most recently just two months ago, I find myself compelled to share the wonders of Ninh Binh with fellow adventurers.

This guide will provide you with comprehensive information on the best things to do in Ninh Binh in and around Ninh Binh.

Best time to visit Ninh Binh

The best time to visit Ninh Binh is during the dry season, which typically runs from November to April. During these months, the weather is relatively mild and pleasant, making it ideal for outdoor activities and sightseeing. The months of March and April, in particular, coincide with the rice harvest season, when the vibrant green rice fields create a stunning backdrop against the limestone karsts.

However, if you prefer to avoid the crowds and enjoy cooler temperatures, the months of November and December are excellent choices. Keep in mind that Ninh Binh can get quite busy during peak tourist seasons, especially around holidays and weekends. Therefore, planning your visit during weekdays or opting for early morning excursions can help you make the most of your time and avoid the crowds.

The 10 best things to do in Ninh Binh

  1. Hike to the Hang Múa Viewpoint

Hang Múa in Ninh Binh has become an incredibly impressive destination, especially for young adventurers seeking the most Instagram-worthy snapshots. It’s not just a natural wonder anymore; it’s been transformed into a hub of resorts and entertainment, catering to travelers of all kinds. But amidst all the modernization, the real gem of Hang Múa remains the summit of Dragon Peak, where you’ll need to conquer around 500 stone steps to reach the top.

Let me tell you about my first time visiting Hang Mua. It was a challenge, no doubt. With each step, I could feel the burn in my legs, but I was determined to make it to the top. And when I finally did, the view that greeted me was nothing short of breathtaking. The fatigue melted away as I stood there, gazing out at the stunning landscape below. Trust me, the climb is tough, but the reward is absolutely worth it.

One highlight of the boat trip is the opportunity to visit ancient temples nestled amidst the karst formations, providing insight into the cultural and religious significance of the area.

  1. Visit the Bich Dong Pagoda

A short 25-minute bicycle ride from Tam Coc’s city center led me to the Bich Dong pagoda, nestled amidst serene surroundings.

As I approached, the sight of the picturesque lotus lake and a quaint stone bridge welcomed me. Inside the pagoda, the ambiance exuded a sense of peace and spirituality, making it a perfect spot for reflection and contemplation.

But what truly captured my attention were the intriguing posters adorning the walls, depicting various actions and their consequences, offering a unique insight into Vietnamese culture and beliefs.
